About the position
The Department of History at Elmhurst University is seeking a Full-time Lecturer in the Atlantic World with a focus on Latin America. The role involves teaching eight courses annually, including surveys in world history and Latin America, introductory courses in world geography, and upper-level courses that may be cross-listed with Latino Studies, Gender Studies, and Race and Ethnicity Studies. Responsibilities
- Prepare and teach eight courses per year, including world history and Latin America surveys.
- Conduct an introductory course in world geography.
- Teach a First-Year Seminar and upper-level courses that can be cross-listed with other studies.
- Grade assignments and provide feedback to students.
- Be available for student inquiries and provide academic advising for course registration.
- Support the University's mission, vision, and values.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement in teaching.
Requirements
- PhD in History preferred; ABD candidates considered.
- Evidence of outstanding teaching or teaching potential.
- Commitment to creating inclusive learning environments for a diverse student body.
- Ability to teach in-person courses on campus.
