About the position

As a Merchandising Service Associate at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring that merchandise is presented according to company standards. Your primary responsibility will be to execute Lowe's customer service policies and procedures, providing SMART customer service at all times. You will build relationships with vendors, ensuring that merchandise resets are completed according to Lowe's specifications. Collaboration with the Merchandising Service team and management will be essential as you communicate project priorities, schedules, and needs for materials and supplies. In this role, you will spend a significant amount of time on tasks that may not involve direct customer interaction; however, you are expected to engage with customers whenever the opportunity arises. This includes understanding customer needs, assisting them in locating and selecting merchandise, and providing knowledgeable responses to inquiries. You will also demonstrate appreciation to customers and communicate important information regarding stock, special orders, and warranty details related to Lowe's programs. Your responsibilities will extend to in-stock management, where you will move or replace beams and grids, rotate stock, and build displays using power equipment. You will identify and manage damaged products, ensuring they are removed from shelves and processed correctly. Additionally, you will verify buyback items, update signage, and ensure that product pricing is clear and visible. Maintaining a clean and safe store environment is paramount, and you will be responsible for conducting daily safety reviews and adhering to all safety requirements relevant to your duties. Overall, this position requires a proactive approach to merchandising and customer service, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively to enhance the shopping experience at Lowe's.

Responsibilities

  • Provides SMART customer service at all times through the daily execution of Lowe's customer service policies, procedures and programs.
  • Builds relationships with vendors by providing direction and checking to ensure merchandise resets are completed according to Lowe's specifications.
  • Collaborates with the Merchandising Service team and Manager by communicating project priorities, schedule, and project needs (e.g., materials, supplies, time).
  • Analyzes metrics and provides feedback on project execution and in-store service to store, market, and corporate leaders.
  • Engages with customers to understand their needs and assists in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise.
  • Listens to and responds knowledgeably and promptly to customer and employee questions, guiding them through projects when necessary.
  • Demonstrates sincere appreciation to customers and communicates information regarding stock, special orders, and warranty information.
  • Moves or replaces beams and grids, rotates stock, builds products, and displays products and support materials using power equipment per reset and/or project instructions.
  • Identifies damaged products, removes them from the shelves, and delivers them to the Return to Manufacturer (RTM) area.
  • Verifies buyback items and ensures they are pulled, prepped, and ready for shipping.
  • Updates/validates wayfinding and product location signage and maintains digital information throughout the store.
  • Confirms that product pricing information is visible and clear, resolving/replacing any missing pricing labels.
  • Ensures cross merchandise, side stack products, j-hooks, and gravity feed bins are placed appropriately to drive add-on sales.
  • Works with store leadership to stage clearance and damaged merchandise for quick sale.
  • Sorts products in bins, drawers, and boxes to ensure proper location and organization.
  • Reviews, completes, and enters completion details for all assigned merchandise reset, service, and maintenance tasks.
  • Ensures all reset displays are safe and in working order, repairing/replacing as needed.
  • Removes trash, moves cardboard boxes to the bailer, and disposes of plastic wrap and other debris properly.
  • Replaces light bulbs and alerts Facility Services Associate (FSA) of additional maintenance issues.
  • Detects common signs of shoplifting, theft, and other security risks, communicating them to management and/or Asset Protection.
  • Maintains compliance with housekeeping standards and programs to ensure cleanliness and organization of store and working areas.
  • Operates store equipment as needed depending on specific role and department.

Requirements

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and build relationships with customers and vendors.
  • Experience in merchandising or retail environments is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and management.
  • Ability to analyze metrics and provide feedback on project execution.
  • Familiarity with power equipment and safety protocols in a retail environment.
