About the position

As a Merchandising Service Associate at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring that our plant service area is well-maintained and visually appealing. Your primary responsibility will be to execute Lowe's customer service policies and procedures, providing SMART customer service at all times. You will build strong relationships with vendors, ensuring that merchandise resets are completed according to Lowe's specifications. Collaboration with the Merchandising Service team and your manager will be essential as you communicate project priorities, schedules, and material needs. Although much of your time will be spent on tasks that do not involve direct customer interaction, you will be expected to engage with customers whenever the opportunity arises. This includes understanding their needs and assisting them in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise. You will also be responsible for listening to and responding to customer inquiries, providing knowledgeable assistance, and demonstrating sincere appreciation for their business. In addition to customer service, you will be responsible for merchandising to plantogram standards, ensuring that plants are displayed correctly and that plant racks are filled to grand opening ready standards. You will identify and order replacements for damaged or missing signage and displays, update wayfinding and product location signage, and ensure that cross merchandise and side stack products are placed appropriately to drive add-on sales. Your role will also involve maintaining a clean and safe store environment, completing service and maintenance tasks, and adhering to safety requirements relevant to your job duties.

Responsibilities

  • Provides SMART customer service at all times through the daily execution of Lowe's customer service policies, procedures and programs
  • Builds relationships with vendors by providing direction and checking to ensure merchandise resets are completed according to Lowe's specifications
  • Collaborates with the Merchandising Service team and Manager by communicating project priorities, schedule, and project needs
  • Engages with customers to understand their needs and assists in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise
  • Listens to and responds knowledgeably and promptly to customer and employee questions
  • Demonstrates sincere appreciation to customers
  • Communicates information to customers regarding stock, special order merchandise, feature benefits, application, and warranty information
  • Merchandises to plantogram, price, color block and places plants as they arrive
  • Fills plant racks onto plant tables per plantogram to grand opening ready standards
  • Identifies damaged or missing signage, displays, and collateral and orders replacements
  • Updates/validates wayfinding and product location signage
  • Ensures cross merchandise, side stack products, j-hooks and gravity feed bins are placed appropriately
  • Assists with culling and pricing dead and distressed plants
  • Maintains a high level of communication and partnership with manager and red vest associates
  • Identifies and communicates issues with quality, quantity and additional needs to Red Vest Outside Garden Manager and MSM
  • Adjusts fixtures, rotates stock, and displays products and support materials using power equipment
  • Reviews, completes, and enters completion details for all assigned service and maintenance tasks
  • Ensures all displays are safe and in working order and repaired/replaced as needed
  • Repairs/seals damaged packaging and boxes including peg-hook items
  • Removes all trash, moves cardboard boxes to the bailer and moves plastic wrap and other debris to the compactor
  • Replaces light bulbs and alerts the appropriate contact when additional maintenance issues are noted
  • Detects common signs of shoplifting, theft, and other security risks, and promptly communicates them to management
  • Ensures compliance with housekeeping standards and programs to maintain cleanliness and organization
  • Maintains a safe and secure work environment, which may include conducting daily safety reviews
  • Adheres to all safety requirements relevant to one's regular job duties
  • Operates store equipment as needed depending on one specific role and department
  • Accountable for other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction)
  • Ability to work overnight and weekends
  • Ability to utilize web-based computer programs to accomplish assigned tasks

Nice-to-haves

  • Education Level: High School or GED
  • Working knowledge of basic tools needed for the job (e.g., hand tools, drills, saws)
  • 6 Months Live nursery experience or Lowe's sales floor experience
  • 6 Months Experience performing product merchandising tasks including reading plantograms, setting up and tearing down displays
  • 3 Months Experience operating power equipment such as lifts, order pickers, and similar equipment
