About the position

As a Full Time Merchandising Service Associate - Plant Service at Lowe's, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring that our plant displays are maintained to the highest standards. Your primary responsibility will be to execute Lowe's customer service policies and procedures, providing SMART customer service at all times. You will build relationships with vendors and collaborate with the Merchandising Service team and Manager to communicate project priorities and needs. Although most of your time will be spent on tasks that do not involve direct customer interaction, you will engage with customers when opportunities arise, assisting them in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and loading merchandise. You will also be responsible for merchandising plants according to the plantogram, ensuring that all displays are visually appealing and compliant with Lowe's specifications. In addition to customer service and merchandising, you will maintain a clean and safe store environment. This includes reviewing and completing service and maintenance tasks, ensuring all displays are safe and in working order, and addressing any maintenance issues promptly. You will also be responsible for detecting signs of theft and security risks, maintaining compliance with housekeeping standards, and ensuring a safe work environment. Your role will require you to operate various store equipment and tools, and you will be held accountable for other duties as assigned. To succeed in this position, you will need to possess basic arithmetic skills, the ability to work overnight and weekends, and proficiency in web-based computer programs. Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, experience in a live nursery or sales floor, and familiarity with basic tools and power equipment. This position offers a pay range of $18.00 - $18.75 per hour, with the starting rate varying based on factors such as location and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides SMART customer service at all times through the daily execution of Lowe's customer service policies, procedures and programs
  • Builds relationships with vendors by providing direction and checking to ensure merchandise resets are completed according to Lowe's specifications
  • Collaborates with the Merchandising Service team and Manager by communicating project priorities, schedule, and project needs (e.g., materials, supplies, time)
  • Engages with customers to understand their needs and assists in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise
  • Listens to and responds knowledgeably and promptly to customer and employee questions by taking them to areas of the store and walking them through projects when necessary
  • Demonstrates sincere appreciation to customers
  • Communicates information to customers regarding all stock, special order merchandise, feature benefits, application, and warranty information related to Lowe's programs
  • Merchandises to plantogram, price, color block and places plants as they arrive
  • Fills plant racks onto plant tables per plantogram to grand opening ready standards
  • Identifies damaged or missing signage, displays, and collateral and orders replacements in accordance with merchandising standards and plantogram details
  • Updates/validates wayfinding and product location signage as well as digital maintenance of this information throughout the store
  • Ensures cross merchandise, side stack products, j-hooks and gravity feed bins are placed appropriately, helping to drive add-on sales
  • Assists with culling and pricing dead and distressed plants
  • Maintains a high level of communication and partnership with manager and red vest associates
  • Identifies and communicates issues with quality, quantity and additional needs to Red Vest Outside Garden Manager and MSM
  • Adjusts fixtures, rotates stock, and displays products and support materials using power equipment (e.g., lifts, order pickers) per service expectations and processes
  • Reviews, completes, and enters completion details for all assigned service and maintenance tasks
  • Ensures all displays are safe and in working order and repaired/replaced as needed
  • Repairs/seals damaged packaging and boxes including peg-hook items
  • Removes all trash, moves cardboard boxes to the bailer and moves plastic wrap and other debris to the compactor
  • Replaces light bulbs and alerts the appropriate contact when additional maintenance issues are noted
  • Detects common signs of shoplifting, theft, and other security risks, and promptly communicates them to management and/or Asset Protection
  • Ensures compliance with housekeeping standards and programs to maintain cleanliness and organization of Outside Garden and working areas
  • Maintains a safe and secure work environment, which may include conducting daily safety reviews, noting hazards, keeping aisles clear, and securing doors and gates
  • Adheres to all safety requirements relevant to one's regular job duties
  • Operates store equipment as needed depending on one specific role and department

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction)
  • Ability to work overnight and weekends
  • Ability to utilize web-based computer programs to accomplish assigned tasks
  • Education Level: High School or GED
  • 6 Months Live nursery experience or Lowe's sales floor experience
  • 6 Months Experience performing product merchandising tasks including reading plantograms, setting up and tearing down displays
  • 3 Months Experience operating power equipment such as lifts, order pickers, and similar equipment

Nice-to-haves
