About the position

The Occupational Safety & Risk Management Manager is responsible for assessing, mitigating, and controlling financial, safety, and security risks within the organization. This role involves leading safety programs, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and developing policies and procedures to enhance safety and risk management practices. The manager will also coordinate emergency preparedness efforts and manage the International Travel program, ensuring the safety and well-being of employees in various operational contexts.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Chair of the Safety Committee and main point of contact for safety inquiries.
  • Lead safety programs, including monthly trainings, and collaborate with departments to identify and address safety needs.
  • Work with Human Resources to track and ensure safety training compliance, including OSHA-required trainings.
  • Implement and communicate new and revised policies to reduce injuries and accidents, including the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
  • Create a tracking system for reported safety concerns and work with Facilities for proactive corrections.
  • Conduct safety audits and assessments to identify and mitigate hazards, reporting findings and recommendations.
  • Ensure employees have access to safety data sheets (SDS) and are trained in personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Coordinate with departments and Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) to manage food safety risks.
  • Investigate and track workers compensation and general liability claims, reporting findings to leadership.
  • Manage the International Travel program, including risk assessments and traveler enrollment.
  • Investigate and track workplace violence incidents and report as required.
  • Support emergency preparedness and contingency planning efforts across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant experience in environmental health and safety, loss prevention, risk management, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, computer literacy, and mathematical/financial skills.
  • Proven leadership skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Risk Management Certification(s)
  • Certificate in Emergency Management (CEM)
  • Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI)
  • Experience in high-volume retail and/or food service operations.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish.
