About The Position

The Akasha Center for Integrative Medicine is seeking a part-time or full-time Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist to support clinical operations in a leading integrative medical clinic located in Santa Monica. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience, a strong interest in integrative medicine, and the necessary certifications to perform both clinical and administrative duties effectively. This role involves direct patient interaction, assisting physicians, and ensuring compliance with medical standards and practices.

Requirements

  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • Phlebotomy certification
  • Continuing Medical Education (CME): 20 hours per calendar year
  • 1-2 years of medical assisting experience
  • Strong interest in Integrative Medicine
  • Excellent personal skills and ability to work in a team
  • Detail-oriented and reliable
  • Good computer and writing skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including Saturdays
  • Clean background check

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (preferred)
  • West Side resident preferred
  • Front and back office experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and accurate measurement and recording of vital signs.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests.
  • Assist physicians with exams and minor office procedures.
  • Perform basic lab tests and notify physicians on test results.
  • File/scan test results to patient's EMR record.
  • Perform basic EKGs and prepare/administer medications with physician's authorization.
  • Maintain supplies, equipment, and stock; sterilize instruments and dispose of bio-hazard waste according to OSHA standards.
  • Communicate appropriately with patients using medical terminology and follow legal and ethical conduct.
  • Ensure availability of lab kits and proper specimen handling.
  • Answer phones, greet patients, and schedule appointments in a professional manner.
  • Utilize computer skills for patient information management and communication.
