About the position

The Full Time Professional Staff Nurse at UPMC Horizon Shenango Valley is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients in the 2 West Medical Surgical unit. This role involves managing patient care activities, collaborating with healthcare teams, and ensuring positive patient outcomes through effective communication and leadership. Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains productive working relationships with patients and colleagues.
• Demonstrates knowledge of adult learning principles and applies them in teaching patients and families.
• Applies the nursing process to create a healing environment and formulates care plans.
• Practices solid communication skills to articulate patient conditions to care providers.
• Actively participates in unit-based shared governance and quality improvement efforts.
• Demonstrates ability to operate medical equipment such as Billirubin lights and Alaris IV pumps.
• Maintains accountability for professional development and quality of patient care.

Requirements

• Minimum six months of nursing experience required.
• Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania or a compact state.
• BSN preferred.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with patients and healthcare teams.
• Good clinical judgment with critical thinking and problem-solving abilities required.
• Mobility and visual manual dexterity are necessary for patient care.

Nice-to-haves

• UPMC approved national certification preferred.
• Experience in a medical surgical unit is a plus.
