Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain productive working relationships with patients and colleagues.
• Demonstrate knowledge of adult learning principles in teaching patients and families.
• Apply the nursing process to create a healing environment and formulate care plans.
• Communicate effectively with care team members regarding patient conditions and care recommendations.
• Participate in unit-based shared governance and quality improvement efforts.
• Utilize research and evidence-based practice to improve clinical care.
• Demonstrate ability to operate medical equipment such as Billirubin lights and Alaris IV pumps.

Requirements

• Minimum six months of nursing experience required.
• Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania or a compact state.
• BSN preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with patients and healthcare staff.
• Good clinical judgment with critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.

Nice-to-haves

• UPMC approved national certification preferred.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
