About the position

The Full-Time Project Coordinator at YMWIC Foundation, Inc. is responsible for coordinating after-school and summer programming for the YMWIC Upward Bound YMWIC OST Programs. This role involves working closely with families, community partners, and school administration to implement workshops and activities aimed at empowering economically disadvantaged or underrepresented youth in grades 3-12 to excel in STEM careers. The Project Coordinator serves as a liaison between various stakeholders and ensures the effective delivery of educational services to the Scholars.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the liaison between the parents, Scholars, and the Executive Director.
  • Oversee the education and tutoring services administered to Scholars.
  • Input and maintain important data within data systems and tools.
  • Execute timely communication to all cohorts about program activities, events, and program-related changes.
  • Perform liaison tasks with school district personnel on behalf of Scholars to ensure that YMWIC has accurate and up-to-date academic information.
  • Ensure that policies and procedures relative to YMWIC are followed by each Scholar.
  • Oversee academic progress with each Scholar and implement intervention(s) where needed.
  • Capture Scholars' academic progress reports for oversight and intervention tasks.
  • Oversee the execution of the program curriculum.
  • Capture Scholar workshop and program activity attendance and ensure that records are accurate and up to date.
  • Oversee the planning, preparation, execution, and management of the YMWIC Chapter Summer program.
  • Monitor retention; implement retention mitigation procedures and tasks.
  • Execute multiple recruitment activities to ensure the program meets specified requirements and goals.
  • Support the implementation and coordination of STEM programming.
  • Coordinate and support full-time direct-service staff with the implementation and facilitation of program activities.
  • Work with Operations and Development Team to ensure Scholar data is collected and recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Support special projects that include local and regional events.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with community-based organizations, partner school district principals and counselors, institutions of higher education, and other public/private agencies serving the surrounding community.
  • Attend relevant training including funding meetings and professional development training.
  • Support YMWIC's Strategic Planning and Program Development Goals and Objectives.
  • Support coordination and implementation of school year programming.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student enrollment and progress.
  • Establish and maintain business relationships and rapport with Chapter High School and Middle School Principals and Counselors.

Requirements

  • Five to ten years of youth development experience.
  • Experience working with Scholars who are in the LatinX and African American community.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Proven experience with administering academic and college readiness activities for middle and high school youth.
  • Proven experience working with middle and high school youth in an education capacity in a school setting as a teacher, counselor, or administrator.
  • Proven experience performing recruitment and retention tasks within youth programs.
  • Demonstrated experience extensively using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Basic understanding of YMWIC's Mission, Vision, Values, programs and services and business plan.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the targeted community needs and demographics.
  • Understanding of legal criteria for issues such as confidentiality, domestic abuse, child abuse, and mandated reporter requirements.
  • Ability to provide a nonviolent intervention with a high level of ethical standards of conduct, cultural sensitivity, and within appropriate boundaries and limits.
  • Ability to effectively use standard office equipment and tools with confidence.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, courteous, cordial, cooperative, and professional interaction with diverse groups of co-workers, external business partners, and the community.
  • Ability to operate a computer and use a variety of common software programs including Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and customized databases.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and effectively communicate with individuals and groups.
