About the position

Healogics is seeking a Full Time Registered Nurse (RN) for our Med Surg department, located in Rockledge, Florida. As the largest provider of advanced wound care services in the United States, Healogics treats over 300,000 chronic wound patients annually across more than 600 sites. With the increasing prevalence of non-healing wounds due to an aging population, obesity, diabetes, and surgical procedures, our mission is to provide high-quality care to those in need through our outpatient clinic partnerships. The RN will work under the direction of the Wound Care Center Clinical Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator, primarily focusing on patient care, intake, and discharge processes for Wound Care Center patients. The role may also involve serving as a Case Manager for a group of assigned patients, depending on the specific setup of the Wound Care Center. In this position, the RN will be responsible for performing initial nursing assessments, communicating findings with physicians, assessing wound stages, documenting care plans, and evaluating patient status in relation to desired outcomes. The RN will also participate in quality improvement initiatives, provide education to patients and caregivers, and advocate for patients in the delivery and coordination of care. Additional responsibilities may include performing hyperbaric oxygen therapy duties after completing the necessary training, collaborating with other healthcare providers, and functioning as a Documentation Assistant as needed. All employees are expected to adhere to Healogics policies, hospital policies, and relevant regulations, including those set by accrediting organizations and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care to Wound Care Center patients and handles patient intake and discharge processes as assigned.
  • Assists in vein clinic as assigned after completing Healogics Vein Clinic training.
  • Serves as Case Manager to a group of patients as assigned, performing initial nursing assessments and communicating findings with the assigned physician.
  • Assesses wound stage and measurements, documents care plans, evaluates patient status regarding desired outcomes, and identifies care situations requiring intervention.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and provides education to patients or caregivers, serving as a patient advocate.
  • Performs hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) related duties as assigned, upon completion of Healogics hyperbaric training.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare providers regarding clinic and patient needs.
  • Functions as a Documentation Assistant (scribe) in accordance with Healogics policy.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current RN license in the state of practice, to be maintained throughout employment
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Medical Surgical, Home Health or Wound Care Certification preferred
  • Wound care experience preferred
  • Demonstrated competency in BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Demonstrated organization, prioritization, and time-management skills
  • Basic knowledge of regulatory/accrediting requirements for healthcare organizations
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, and communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Customer service skills and follow-up skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Teaching skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to remain calm in all situations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of computerized nursing systems
