About the position

The Full Time Retail Associate position at The UPS Store involves providing exceptional customer service and support in a retail environment. The role requires engaging with customers, understanding their needs, and promoting store products and services effectively. This is a year-round, full-time position that includes training on store procedures and products, with a focus on delivering quality service and maintaining store operations.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers in a friendly manner and determine their needs.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service through engagement and quality product delivery.
  • Be knowledgeable of all store products and services and promote them to customers.
  • Identify customer needs and offer additional services that could benefit them.
  • Receive, sort, and place mail in mailboxes accurately.
  • Record all sales transactions completely and accurately in the Point of Sale system.
  • Pack contents for shipping using established procedures and products.
  • Receive and prepare documents for printing.
  • Operate software packages using Apple/Microsoft applications related to print production requests.
  • Receive and process packages for shipping, including lifting and weighing packages, accessing shipment manifesting software, and generating labels.
  • Process and document damaged shipments, late and lost package claims.
  • Assist in merchandising the store, including stocking shelves and ensuring a clean appearance of products.
  • Perform end of day duties, including reconciliation of cash and other transactions accurately.
  • Operate copiers, fax machines, binding equipment, and other office machines safely and efficiently.
  • Help customers operate office machines located in the retail area.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties and other assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Customer service and sales experience in a retail environment.
  • Point of Sale (POS) and computer experience is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain harmonious relationships with customers.
  • Knowledge of PCs and MS Office is desirable.
  • Good problem-solving and intuitive skills are a must.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Manual hand dexterity required to operate POS, copiers, and binding machinery.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a Live Finger Print Scanner and Notary Public.
