Pay $47,000 - $50,000 a year Job type Full-time Shift and schedule Weekends as needed Overnight shift Evenings as needed On call Location 5914 Seminary Road, Falls Church, VA 22041 Full job description Position: Hypo Coordinator Reports to: Director, Residential Services Supervises: Residential Services Specialists Status: Seasonal Full Time, Exempt Areas of Responsibility: The Hypothermia Coordinator is responsible for supervising the Resident Services Specialist Hypothermia Team as well as the day-to-day operation of the hypothermia program. The Hypothermia Coordinator has direct programmatic oversight of the hypothermia shelter Intake Process, training hypothermia RSS staff members, scheduling shift coverage, coordinating hypothermia shelter sites with faith-based and community partners, and overseeing the laundry services for assigned Region and/or location in coordination with the contracting agency. Summary of Position: The Hypothermia Coordinator is responsible for the program maintenance; ensuring that the hypothermia program sites are in operational order, the shelter environment is warm and welcoming, and all forms, documents, and resident information is updated daily, is secure, and follows all written policies and procedures. The Hypothermia Coordinator will be expected to make recommendations to the Coordinator of Residential Services, relative to change and program improvements. The Hypothermia Coordinator must demonstrate the ability to work closely with staff in a harmonious fashion, provide direction to staff, and ensure that they conduct themselves as a professional in the field of human services. Essential Responsibilities : Some of the essential responsibilities of the Hypothermia Coordinator include, but are not limited to: Collaborating with the Coordinator of Residential Services, hires, trains, and supervises all seasonal resident services specialists for Region 2 hypothermia program as assigned; Scheduling resident services specialist shifts, while ensuring adequate coverage on all shifts; including evening, overnight, all weekend shifts, and daytime emergency coverage if needed; Working flexible hours between 5 pm and 9 am, including weekends to provide hands-on supervision of RSS staff while on duty. Is on-call and responsible for providing last-minute shift coverage as necessary including evenings, weekends, and overnights; Coordinating transportation of guests to and from hypothermia program sites; Coordinating transportation of laundry to and from hypothermia program sites; Attending monthly hypothermia program meetings with the Office to Prevent and End Homelessness from September-April and participating in weekly conference calls; Conducting regular supervisions with hypothermia RSS, completing employee evaluations, and managing all other components of staff supervision; Approving the use of PTO and Sick hours. Monitoring and approving case Resident Services Specialist work hours in the ADP electronic timesheet system; Ensuring a safe and manageable living environment for shelter residents by establishing a consistent implementation of policies and procedures on all shifts at the hypothermia program sites; Supervising the documentation of daily hypothermia shelter activities and communication between shifts including shift report entry, incident reports, etc.; Monitoring the shelter intake process ensuring all county paperwork is completed; Ensuring HMIS Data Sheets and Release of Information forms are received by the Shelter Services Specialist daily; Being visible and regularly interacting with shelter residents. Modeling a caring, concerned, and respectful attitude toward residents where each community member is treated with dignity and respect; Being familiar with, and complying with the policies and procedures of New Hope Housing, Inc. including the utilization of Mandt principles; Providing crisis intervention and crisis management services as needed; Attending all mandatory staff meetings is a member of the agency management team; Interacting positively with New Hope Housing staff, staff members from collateral agencies, the public, and all volunteers; Developing individual goals for each staff person and supports, motivates and monitors their progress, identifies and coordinates training needs, and provides oversight of staff's work as necessary to ensure a safe and respectful environment exists for all residents, staff, volunteers, and visitors; Adhering to the required ethical standards to include confidentiality, boundaries, resident rights; Ensure that all hypothermia Resident Services Specialist demonstrate the ability to complete all intake paperwork; Performing other duties as assigned; Continually building relationships within the community through one-on-one networking, group meetings, and public outreach to help form partnerships, which will provide more resources for residents. Preferred Qualifications: This position requires the following: BA preferred high school diploma or GED required; Strong supervisory, management, and team-building experience; Two years' experience working in a human service setting; Experience working with homeless adults and adults diagnosed with a mental illness and addiction disorder; Counseling and crisis intervention skills; The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;] = - Effective time management skills in a fast-paced environment; Proficient use of computers to include Microsoft Office and other database software(s) used to track service delivery; The ability to successfully pass a background check and possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record to be approved by our insurance carrier; Strong oral and written communication skills; Ability to prioritize competing priorities and make sound judgments.
