About the position

As a Store Associate at ALDI, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the store operates smoothly and provides an exceptional shopping experience for customers. Your primary responsibilities will include merchandising and stocking products, handling cashier duties, and maintaining cleanliness throughout the store. This position is full-time, with an average of 32-40 hours per week, and offers a starting wage of $18.00 per hour, with scheduled wage increases over the years. You will be expected to consistently demonstrate the Mindsets, ALDI Acts Competencies, and Professional Skills (M.A.P.) as outlined for the role. In this role, you will process customer purchases efficiently, perform general cleaning duties, and ensure that shelves and merchandise displays are stocked neatly. Providing exceptional customer service is a key aspect of your job, as you will assist customers with their shopping experience and collaborate with team members to communicate effectively with the store management team. You will also be responsible for providing feedback to management regarding products, inventory losses, scanning errors, and any general issues that may arise. Additionally, you will participate in taking store inventory counts according to guidelines and monitor inventory for accuracy. Adhering to cash policies and procedures is essential to minimize losses, and you will be expected to comply with all established company policies while upholding the security and confidentiality of documents and data. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

• Process customer purchases and handle cashier duties efficiently.
• Perform general cleaning duties to maintain store standards.
• Stock shelves and merchandise displays neatly and accurately.
• Provide exceptional customer service and assist customers with their shopping experience.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly with the store management team.
• Provide feedback to management on products, inventory losses, scanning errors, and general issues.
• Participate in taking store inventory counts according to guidelines and monitor inventory for accuracy.
• Adhere to cash policies and procedures to minimize losses.
• Comply with all established company policies and procedures while upholding security and confidentiality of documents and data.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older to be employed for this role at ALDI.
• Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service.
• Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately.
• Ability to safely and properly operate equipment, including electric/manual hand jack, floor scrubber, and cardboard baler.
• Ability to perform general cleaning duties to company standards.
• Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
• Ability to stay organized, give attention to detail, follow instructions, and multi-task in a professional and efficient manner.
• Meet any state and local requirements for handling and selling alcoholic beverages.

Nice-to-haves

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior work experience in a retail environment preferred.
