About the position

As a Store Manager Trainee at ALDI, you will undergo comprehensive training to prepare for managing your own store. This role involves supervising daily store operations, ensuring high performance, managing staffing needs, and developing operational plans while mentoring your team. You will be responsible for maintaining customer service standards and operational efficiency, ultimately leading to a successful store environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day operations and performance of the team to provide high customer service levels.
  • Communicate and model the core values of the organization to foster teamwork.
  • Handle customer concerns and ensure appropriate resolutions.
  • Maintain proper store signage and ensure product quality and freshness.
  • Assist in hiring store personnel by reviewing resumes and interviewing candidates.
  • Prepare and manage weekly schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
  • Establish job responsibilities and performance expectations for direct reports.
  • Conduct store meetings and identify training opportunities for team development.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend personnel for advancement or termination.
  • Achieve store payroll and total loss budgets.
  • Manage cash audits according to company guidelines.
  • Monitor the competitive environment and recommend necessary adjustments.
  • Provide product feedback and recommendations to the direct leader.
  • Ensure a safe environment by identifying and rectifying hazards.
  • Oversee product merchandising and maintain stock levels through appropriate ordering.
  • Conduct store inventory counts and reconciliations according to guidelines.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures while maintaining document security.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Ability to develop rapport and open communication with direct reports.
  • Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish goals and guide employee performance.
  • Ability to evaluate and drive performance of self and others.
  • Ability to understand management principles regarding budgeting and expenses.
  • Ability to operate a cash register efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and perform general cleaning duties.
  • Ability to stay organized and multi-task efficiently.

Nice-to-haves

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior management experience preferred.
