About the position

The Teller position at First State Bank is a full-time role focused on providing exceptional customer service while handling various banking transactions. The role requires a professional appearance, a customer-focused attitude, and the ability to manage cash and checks accurately. Tellers play a critical role in ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining the integrity of banking operations.

Responsibilities

• Receive cash and checks for deposits, verify amounts, and check endorsements.
• Examine cash to guard against counterfeit bills.
• Cash checks for customers after verifying identification and account balances.
• Enter transactions into the Fiserv Teller product and issue customer receipts.
• Redeem Savings bonds and process credit card cash advances.
• Count cash balance at the beginning of the shift and balance cash and checks at the end of the shift.
• Prepare bank cashier's checks and explain bank services and charges to customers.
• Observe suspicious behavior and report to the Branch Manager or security personnel.
• Remain calm and follow procedures in the event of a robbery.
• Balance ATM, coin machines, teller drawer, and vault.
• Promote the bank's services and cross-sell bank products.
• Make efforts to solve customer problems and be knowledgeable of the Patriot Act.
• Participate in community relations and activities as needed.

Requirements

• One year of customer service experience is required.
• Two years of cash handling experience is required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in banking is preferred.
