About the position

One full-time, nine-month Tenure-track or Lecturer position is available in the Software Engineering Program and the Information Technology Management Program in the Math, Science, and Technology Department at the Crookston campus of the University of Minnesota starting August 11, 2025. Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. A competitive fringe benefits package is offered. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality undergraduate instruction to students in the Software Engineering B.S. program and the Information Technology Management B.S. program, which includes hands-on and experiential learning. Course topics may include Programming, Web Application Development, Operating Systems, Networking, Cybersecurity, System Analysis and Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Artificial Intelligence, Software Construction, and Software Requirements Analysis. New courses may be developed based on the needs of the program and the candidate's expertise. The position requires regular office hours and engagement in service activities on the University of Minnesota Crookston campus. Candidates who wish to be considered for a tenure-track appointment are also expected to establish a research program with a relevant focus, which may include work with undergraduate students. Tenure-line appointments carry a <24.0 credit teaching load annually (typically three to four courses per semester). Candidates who wish to be considered for a full-time Lecturer appointment are not expected to establish a research agenda. Full-time lecturer appointments carry a <30.0 credit teaching load annually (typically four to five courses per semester). Whether a tenure-track faculty member or a full-time Lecturer, the successful candidate is expected to help further develop the program; provide undergraduate academic and career advising; advise program-related extracurricular clubs; expand industry networks to benefit students and graduate employment opportunities; foster equity and sense of belonging among all students; and actively participate in recruitment, assessment, retention, and accreditation efforts. The position location is onsite and requires regular office hours and engagement in service activities on the University of Minnesota Crookston campus. This position is not eligible for STEM or visa sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Tenure-track candidates: Doctorate degree in software engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field (ABD will be considered).
  • Lecturer candidates: Minimum master's degree in software engineering, computer science, information technology, or related field.
  • Strong commitment to excellence and innovation in teaching at the undergraduate level.
  • Effective English communication skills.
  • Commitment to an experiential education philosophy within the scope of the land grant mission.
  • Final job offer contingent upon receipt of official transcripts, a complete background check, and authorization to work in the United States.
