About the position

The Senior SQL Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for providing technical support for the database environment, overseeing the development and organization of databases. This role involves collaboration with architecture, application development, and operations during the design, development, and implementation of applications. The Senior DBA will also train and develop technical support and applications staff to effectively utilize the Microsoft DBMS product stack, while enhancing T-SQL code for various database functions.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with Software Development Team to architect, design, and implement SQL solutions to support applications.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of deployment strategies for in-house developed applications.
  • Manage and operate database platforms, including implementing data models, creating database tables, indexes, triggers, and views.
  • Monitor database size and performance, tune SQL queries, and create support documentation.
  • Participate in application and reporting project initiatives.
  • Assist the Infrastructure team in disaster recovery and high availability initiatives.
  • Provide on-call support as needed.
  • Support database server environments and facilitate data migration efforts.
  • Create policies and procedures for database management.
  • Coordinate knowledge and administration of the data repository, advising on data issues and accepting models from major projects.
  • Manage and support all SQL 2005 / 2008 / 2012 servers.
  • Create relevant technical design documentation and ensure all parties are informed of project plans and status.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Solid foundation in programming concepts and database structures.
  • Sound communication and team working skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in CIS/CSE/MIS, or equivalent experience.
  • Technical certifications such as MCITP or MCTS: SQL Server are a plus.

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics - Great Plains.
