About the position

The Tax Manager - Generalist position is a remote role within a boutique firm specializing in tax, accounting, and audit/assurance services. The firm serves a diverse national client base, including both for-profit and non-profit entities across various industries. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in public accounting, particularly in managing a wide range of tax returns and providing technical expertise in tax matters. This role requires a balance of preparation and review work, with a focus on real estate transactions and a strong understanding of relevant tax regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and review tax returns for S-Corps, C-Corps, Partnerships, Individuals, and Multi-state tax filings.
  • Prepare tax returns as needed, contributing to a team-oriented environment where all members participate in preparation tasks.
  • Provide technical guidance and support on complex tax issues, including 754 elections and 1031 exchanges.
  • Oversee the tax compliance process for clients with revenues ranging from $10 million to $100 million.
  • Collaborate with clients to offer transaction and business advisory services as needed.

Requirements

  • Active CPA or EA certification.
  • 10+ years of experience in public accounting.
  • High level of technical knowledge in tax regulations and compliance.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing tax returns for various entity types including S-Corps, C-Corps, Partnerships, and Individuals.
  • Ability to handle 300-500 tax returns annually.
  • Experience with real estate transactions, specifically 754 elections and 1031 exchanges.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong experience with Gift, Trust, and Estate Returns.
  • Experience signing off on tax returns.
  • Transaction and business advisory experience.
