About the position

The Fun After School Enrichment Instructor for Chess Basics is a part-time role focused on teaching chess fundamentals to elementary school students. The position aims to encourage children to develop problem-solving, planning, and patience through chess in an after-school setting. Instructors will work with youth, primarily ages 5-11, and are expected to commit to a flexible schedule during after-school hours.

Responsibilities

• Teach chess fundamentals to elementary school students.
• Encourage children to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills through chess.
• Commit to 5-6 hours of work per week during after-school hours.
• Ensure timely arrival and punctuality for scheduled classes.
• Complete a background check as required.

Requirements

• Experience working with youth, preferably elementary-aged students.
• Reliable transportation to travel to various school sites.
• Ability to commit to Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
• Willingness to improve chess skills and learn from the organization.
