About the position

The Function Owner for System Integration at Scout Motors is responsible for leading the development of connected car systems, ensuring seamless integration of innovative technologies into the vehicle ecosystem. This role involves defining system-level requirements, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and optimizing the interaction between connected services and vehicle hardware/software to enhance performance and user experience. The position requires a strong background in electrical/software engineering, particularly in connected car technologies and IoT integration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of connected car systems including design, testing, integration, and quality.
  • Define comprehensive system-level requirements for connected functions in vehicles.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to optimize interactions between connected services, vehicle hardware, and software.
  • Develop solutions for seamless communication between IoT devices and vehicle systems.
  • Conduct analytical development using model-based design and simulation toolsets.
  • Champion first principles design methodology and problem-solving methods for debugging and issue resolution.
  • Lead sprint planning and daily standup meetings.
  • Develop and maintain best practices including design standards and test procedures.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in a relevant field (preferably PhD with 6+ years of experience).
  • 5 to 7+ years of experience in electrical/software engineering.
  • Extensive experience with connected car technologies, telematics, and backend systems.
  • Expertise in leading integration and definition of connected car features.
  • Experience with vehicle communication and diagnostic protocols (CAN, LIN, DoIP, Automotive Ethernet).
  • Knowledge of automotive design and development processes, system requirements, and engineering best practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing Proof of Concepts (PoC) and conducting Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
