About the position

The Functional Family Therapist (Mental Health Clinician II) position at Johnson County Government involves providing clinical services to justice-involved youth aged 12-18 diagnosed with severe emotional disabilities. The role focuses on utilizing Functional Family Therapy (FFT) to maintain these youth in the least restrictive environment possible, primarily in their homes. The position requires evening availability and involves collaboration with families and community agencies to ensure comprehensive care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments as part of the intake and diagnostic process, identifying individual needs and diagnosing substance use and/or mental health disorders.
  • Develop complex treatment and intervention plans to address the clinical needs of individuals, coordinating with community agencies for resources and support.
  • Provide psychotherapy and other clinical services for individuals, groups, and families with complex needs, ensuring consistency with individual plans.
  • Complete and submit clinical documentation regarding services provided, evaluating and documenting individuals' progress according to measurable goals.
  • Serve as the clinical expert on the treatment team, providing consultation to case managers and crisis intervention support.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or other Human Services field.
  • Kansas Behavioral Sciences licensure at the master's level in the area of focus.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Kansas Behavioral Sciences license at the clinical level.
  • Licensed as a Masters or Clinical Addiction Counselor by the Behavioral Health Sciences Regulatory Board with the State of Kansas.
  • Experience working in a community mental health setting.
