About the position

The Functional Product Analyst role at Highmark Health is designed to support both Epic Clarity report writing and various analytical aspects of the product management lifecycle. The incumbent will collaborate closely with Business Intelligence and healthcare professionals to gather, organize, and present data in a manner that is accessible to users. This includes creating meaningful analytics and reports, training users on software, and assisting with advanced reporting. A strong background in writing EPIC Clarity reports and administering EPIC Reporting Workbench is essential for success in this role. In addition to report writing, the analyst will engage in product management activities that require sound judgment and discretion. This involves understanding customer and stakeholder needs, identifying opportunities, and creating business cases to support product strategy. The analyst will translate high-level business needs into detailed requirements, perform research, analyze data to identify business problems and trends, and recommend process improvements. Collaboration with business stakeholders and delivery partners is crucial to prioritize business capabilities in the product backlog and ensure timely, quality delivery of customer needs. The role also encompasses participation in the full product management delivery lifecycle, utilizing modern methodologies such as Agile/Scrum and Kanban. The analyst will support business analysis, requirements definition, user testing, and defect management to minimize production defects. Effective communication with team members, customers, and management is vital, as the analyst will conduct requirement walkthroughs, report project status, and ensure compliance with necessary standards throughout the project lifecycle. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Work with customers, business stakeholders, vendors, designers, and IT delivery partners to capture capability needs and drive quality business solutions.
  • Create and maintain deliverables such as business vision, business requirements, customer personas, stakeholder maps, product capability roadmaps, and implementation plans.
  • Participate in the full product management delivery lifecycle using Agile/Scrum and Kanban methodologies to manage product requirements and delivery plans.
  • Support business analysis, requirements definition, user testing, and defect management to ensure minimal production defects.
  • Effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders, conducting requirement walkthroughs and sprint reviews, and reporting project status.
  • Participate in sprint plans and reviews to ensure product capability development aligns with customer needs and business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with required standards and obtain necessary approvals throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Information Technology, Information Systems or related field, or 6 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 3 years of experience in a Business Analysis and/or Analyst role.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1 year of experience with Lean/Six Sigma and/or Process Improvement.
  • 1 year of experience in the Health Insurance Industry.
  • 1 year of experience in the Healthcare Industry.
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Business Analysis Professional (IIBA) certification.
  • Human Centered Design (HCD)/Design Thinking certification.
