About the position

The Functional Product Analyst role at Highmark Health is designed to support both Epic Clarity report writing and various analytical aspects of the product management lifecycle. The incumbent will collaborate closely with Business Intelligence and healthcare professionals to gather, organize, and present data in a manner that is accessible to users. This includes creating meaningful analytics and reports, both basic and ad hoc, and providing training to users on software tools and advanced reporting techniques. A strong background in writing EPIC Clarity reports and administering EPIC Reporting Workbench is essential for success in this role. In addition to report writing, the role encompasses responsibilities related to product management. This involves using sound judgment and discretion to engage with customers and business stakeholders to understand their needs and identify opportunities for product strategy development. The analyst will create business cases and cost analyses to support the product roadmap, translating high-level business needs into detailed requirements for new or modified capabilities. The role requires performing research and data analysis to identify business problems and trends, assessing processes and rules to recommend improvements or new capabilities. The Functional Product Analyst will also prioritize business capabilities in the product backlog, conduct root cause analysis, and develop corrective action plans. They will work proactively with delivery partners to ensure that customer needs are met and that projects are delivered on time and with quality. The analyst will document and resolve risks, defects, and issues while analyzing market trends to provide competitive insights that inform business value statements and platform recommendations. This position also involves mentoring junior resources and requires a thorough understanding of the assigned business platform and its integration points to effectively manage delivery across the product management lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Customers, Business Stakeholder, Vendors, Designers, IT Delivery Partners, and other team members to capture capability needs and drive quality business solutions.
  • Create and maintain deliverables such as business vision, business requirements, customer personas, stakeholder and/or journey maps, product capability roadmaps, product KPIs/metrics, and implementation/delivery plans.
  • Participate in the full product management delivery life cycle using modern product management practices and methodologies, such as Agile/Scrum, Kanban, etc.
  • Support various aspects of business analysis, business requirements definition and documentation, business user testing, and full product capability delivery.
  • Effectively communicate with team members, customers, partners, and management, including conducting business and product requirement walkthroughs and sprint reviews.
  • Participate in sprint plans and reviews to ensure product capability development aligns with customer needs and defined business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance for required standards and obtain all necessary approvals throughout the product management and delivery project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Information Technology, Information Systems or related field (or 6 years of related experience in lieu of a degree).
  • 3 years in a Business Analysis and/or Analyst role.
