About the position

The Real Estate Fund Accountant at Grubb Properties plays a crucial role in the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and transparency in real estate fund accounting. This position involves managing various financial tasks related to real estate investments, contributing to the company's growth and success while adhering to high ethical standards.

Responsibilities

• Sort, scan, and accurately enter invoices into the accounts payable system.
• Set up new vendors for payment processing and verify annual vendor tax documentation, including issuing Form 1099.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accurate cash balances for assigned bank accounts.
• Prepare and present financial reports detailing investment performance, cash flow, and financial position.
• Manage investor contributions and distributions, ensuring compliance with agreements and calculating profit allocations.
• Review and ensure the accuracy of legal and financial documents, managing the billing process.
• Forecast cash flow needs and ensure timely fund transfers between investments.
• Assist in tax filings, audits, and year-end reporting to ensure compliance with all regulations.
• Stay current with accounting regulations and ensure fund accounting practices adhere to relevant standards.
• Assist in periodic asset valuations and cost tracking for acquisitions or developments.
• Liaise with third-party service providers for fund administration and accounting needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• CPA and/or master's degree preferred.
• 1-3 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
• Experience in fund accounting or investment management preferred.
• Proficiency in financial software and tools, especially Microsoft Excel.
• Experience in Yardi Investment Management software is a huge plus.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of financial instruments and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Time management abilities and adaptability to changing conditions.
• Ethical integrity and commitment to data confidentiality.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in fund accounting or investment management preferred.
• Experience in Yardi Investment Management software is a huge plus.
