About the position

The Fund Accountant position is a growth-oriented role primarily responsible for record keeping and financial reporting for several private equity investment partnership clients. This position will report directly to a Fund Controller and will require a deep understanding of current accounting principles as they apply to the accounting and financial reporting of investment partnerships. The Fund Accountant will be tasked with reviewing transaction and valuation information to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards. In this role, the individual will be expected to maintain the general ledger for assigned partnerships, which includes recording journal entries and reconciling bank accounts. The preparation of capital calls and distribution notices to partners is also a critical responsibility. The Fund Accountant must maintain a thorough understanding of the limited partnership agreements and apply their terms to financial reporting, including income and expense allocations. Additionally, the position involves preparing financial statements and footnotes, allocating income and expenses to the partners' capital accounts, and generating various management reports for the assigned partnerships. The successful candidate will be proactive and resourceful, demonstrating a strong work ethic and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Recording journal entries and maintaining general ledger for assigned partnerships
  • Reconciliation of bank accounts
  • Preparation of capital calls and distributions notices to partners
  • Maintain a working understanding of the limited partnership agreements(s) and apply the terms to the financial reporting and the income and expense allocations
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current accounting principles and developing solutions for issues that affect investment partnerships
  • Preparation of financial statements and footnotes
  • Allocation of income and expenses to the partners' capital accounts
  • Preparation of various management reports for assigned partnerships

Requirements

  • College degree with a major in accounting
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • CPA or CPA candidate
  • Proactive, resourceful, strong work ethic, team player
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
