About the position

PDT Partners - a quantitative investment manager - is seeking an intellectually curious, independent, collaborative professional interested in learning about and contributing to a world-class, quantitative trading business to be part of Fund Analytics & Operations. The role provides an opportunity to participate in all aspects of our complex trading operations, to design and execute procedures, as well as to provide analytics and business insights for key management decisions that allow us to grow our strategies. The Fund Analytics & Operations team contributes to our trading operational alpha by post trade analysis, processing trades, investigating trends, trade and position breaks, and working with counterparties and internal teams. The team also partakes in new projects, from the launch of new funds to the trading of new products or entering new markets. It's a great opportunity to learn about, and meaningfully shape, a vital part of our firm. There is a duality to the success in this role: to ensure the required trade processing and to bring the analytics platform vision to realization in all aspects. This person will lead, design and own efforts in creating, building and maintaining data, prototypes, dashboards, and tools, working cross-functionally with technologists and other teams. In addition, this person will be expected to find and assess various business and operational trends and metrics that will have an impact on decision making and operational process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure operational excellence by performing and optimizing core activities such as reconciling daily trade processing, trade settlement, and trade position data across various products, regions, and internal and external counterparties
  • Operate as a product owner by partnering cross-functionally with senior leaders in business operations and technology to create, engineer, prototype, and present analytics; prioritize and productionize prototypes as needed
  • Formulate and deliver analytics and reports for management and various committees that impact the business
  • Prototype and structure new tools to facilitate our post-trade-related data in insightful ways
  • Improve existing procedures and create more efficient ones, often in collaboration with many areas of the firm
  • Participate in new launches, trading with new counterparties, and new markets/products

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional experience in a technically intensive and data oriented role
  • Proven ability to own, engineer, and analyze data-related products to drive process improvements and facilitate business decisions
  • Strong affinity to math, arithmetic, analytics, and operational puzzles; demonstrated aptitude for analytical thinking and problem solving with intuitive numerical sense
  • Experience using Python or other related technologies to prototype and formulate data processes and structure; strong SQL and Excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to synthesize details to a senior audience
  • Knowledge of the trade lifecycle is a plus
