The Fund Development Manager at Marion Senior Services is responsible for fostering a culture of philanthropy within the organization. This role involves leading staff and volunteers in developing and implementing strategies to attract donors and contributions, ensuring compliance with accountability standards, and maintaining effective systems for donor management. The position requires collaboration on various fundraising activities to support the organization's mission and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate internal and external forces affecting fund development and recommend plans that align with the organization's mission.
  • Assist leadership in addressing organizational development issues that impact financial health.
  • Ensure fund development activities align with the organization's values and mission.
  • Select, develop, motivate, and evaluate both professional and volunteer human resources for fundraising efforts.
  • Train and supervise fundraising volunteers, ensuring effective coordination and placement.
  • Stay informed on trends in philanthropy and fund development, advising leadership on relevant issues.
  • Establish performance measures for fund development programs and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Oversee daily operations of the fund development function and coordinate with staff and committees.
  • Develop a balanced funding mix and tailored solicitation programs to attract and retain donors.
  • Create public relations campaigns and media relationships to promote agency support.
  • Participate in community events and professional organizations to enhance agency visibility.
  • Build relationships with donors, providing cultivation and stewardship opportunities.
  • Collaborate with staff to design and write annual fundraising campaign materials.
  • Maintain accurate progress reports for fundraising activities and implement best practices for donor acquisition and stewardship.
  • Design and execute a multi-channel development strategy for financial sustainability.
  • Develop a comprehensive annual resource development plan targeting various donor groups.
  • Provide monthly progress reports to the Executive Director regarding fundraising efforts.
  • Create strategies for donor development and a sustainable funding base.
  • Implement a donor acknowledgment and stewardship system, maintaining contact with major donors.
  • Oversee the design and dissemination of development collateral and grant proposals.

Requirements

  • Experience in fund development and philanthropy within a non-profit organization.
  • Strong leadership skills to manage staff and volunteers effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with donors and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices and donor management systems.
  • Experience in developing and implementing fundraising strategies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with grant writing and proposal development.
  • Familiarity with donor management software and fundraising databases.
