Chandler Asset Management is seeking a Fund Operations Specialist to join our team in San Diego, CA. This full-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from $65,000 to $85,000 annually. The primary role of the Fund Operations Specialist is to oversee the firm's pooled products, acting as the central liaison between all stakeholders to address operational and servicing needs. This position requires a deep understanding of fund accounting, reporting, and client requirements, with a focus on proactively providing tailored solutions and expert guidance. The Specialist will play a crucial role in maintaining high levels of operational efficiency and client satisfaction through expert data management and effective client engagement. Key responsibilities include serving as a resource for internal staff, managing client relationships, overseeing daily fund operations, executing data entry tasks for portfolio accounting, facilitating trade settlement, generating reports, and contributing to the documentation of existing operational processes. The Specialist will also participate in role-specific training programs and commit to continuous professional development to enhance operational functions.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a key resource for internal staff, addressing and resolving operational issues related to fund accounting, subscriptions, redemptions, wires, and trade settlement with the custodian.
  • Manage client relationships by interacting with both clients and relevant vendors to ensure consistent and high-quality service.
  • Oversee daily fund operations, including daily cash reconciliation, NAV calculations, resolution of aged requests, and monitoring internal communications with the Investment Team to promptly address discrepancies.
  • Execute data entry tasks with precision for portfolio accounting purposes, ensuring all financial information is accurately captured and reflected in the system.
  • Facilitate the efficient and timely settlement of trades by supporting the trade settlement process.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the operational details of software and systems to effectively manage the flow of funds within the LGIP platform.
  • Generate reports to assist with the portfolio management process, ensuring accurate and relevant data is available for decision-making.
  • Learn the linkage between the LGIP website and the investment portal, updating required information daily using operational software tools.
  • Contribute to the documentation of existing operational processes under established guidelines, aiding in the creation of a comprehensive procedural manual to enhance operational clarity and efficiency.
  • Actively participate in role-specific training programs designed to improve knowledge and skills pertinent to the operations of the LGIP platform.
  • Commit to continuous professional development and performance improvement to enhance the effectiveness of operational functions.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Over 3 years of experience in fund accounting, investment operations, and/or portfolio accounting is necessary.
  • Advanced proficiency with Bloomberg is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, with advanced Excel functionalities such as pivot tables and VLOOKUPs being essential.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Strong analytical skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and understand Chandler's vendor platforms and software applications is crucial.
  • Experience with Clearwater Analytics, Linedata, and/or CAPS is highly desirable.
