About the position

The Fundamental Research Analyst plays a crucial role within the Global Data Management (GDM) team at S&P Dow Jones Indices. This position is responsible for the acquisition, management, and quality assurance of financial data used in the production and maintenance of S&P Dow Jones-branded indices. The analyst will set standards for data management processes, support junior analysts, and present findings to Index Committees, ensuring that data is accurate and timely for decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a process/systems expert in data management operations and a subject matter expert in Financials/ESG data.
  • Work collaboratively with a global team of researchers, index managers, IT specialists, and financial data vendors.
  • Ensure timely completion of processes for capturing, quality screening, and presenting data for S&P and Dow Jones indices.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of data sets used in index production and maintenance.
  • Take responsibility for data management of high-profile indices and act as an industry expert.
  • Liaise with index committees and present original data items to support maintenance and rebalancing of indices.
  • Provide timely and accurate responses to internal and external inquiries.
  • Manage relationships with other departments and data vendors to enhance data management processes.
  • Lead innovation initiatives through process improvements and automation.
  • Produce documentation and specifications for data management logic and collaborate with technology teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrable understanding of global financial markets.
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently on multiple projects.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities to solve complex problems.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS Office applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in business, finance, or equivalent discipline.
  • 3-4 years of professional experience handling financial data, including Company Fundamentals/ESG.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL/Python/Power Automate for data transformations and process automation.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate ownership.
  • Good communication skills and experience in customer-facing roles.
