About the position

The Funds US Tax Analyst Internship at Alter Domus offers a unique opportunity for students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting to gain hands-on experience in tax preparation and compliance. Interns will work closely with a diverse range of clients, contributing to a dynamic team that provides essential tax services, including federal and state tax returns, FATCA/CRS reporting, and 1099 preparation. This role emphasizes collaboration, organization, and proactive engagement, making it ideal for those interested in a career in tax accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Collect financial and other information from the client or internal administration teams.
  • Prepare tax workpapers including allocations and all tax related information for the tax year.
  • Prepare federal and state tax returns using tax prep software and file with the required taxing authorities.
  • Gather and analyze financial information from underlying portfolio companies for purposes of US filings - PFIC, CFCs, 926 forms, etc.
  • Prepare and manage 1099, 1042, and FATCA/CRS reporting.
  • Prepare tax basis calculations for partnership interests and PFICs.
  • Develop relationships with client management and effectively and timely communicate engagement status.
  • Identify and perform/review US withholding tax requirements relating to income allocations to foreign and tax-exempt recipients.
  • Respond to tax authority requests & resolve tax notices.
  • Respond to limited partners' tax inquiries or ad-hoc requests.
  • Research domestic and foreign tax reporting issues.
  • Thoroughly review work completed prior to sending to supervisor for review.
  • Participate in department improvement teams.
  • Other projects as required.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • Strong interest in Tax Accounting as a career.
  • Completed a Tax course, preferred.
  • Current Junior with an expected graduation date between December 2025 - August 2026.
  • Microsoft Suite experience, including use of Excel.
  • Highly organized and proactive, with follow-through on commitments.
  • Personal and professional integrity.
  • Strong work ethic, responsiveness and passion for customer service and quality.
  • Excellent team player and good interpersonal skills.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and receive feedback and review comments on work prepared.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
