About the position

The Funeral Arranger plays a crucial role in supporting client families during funerals, visitations, and interments. This position involves assisting families in implementing their choices regarding funeral services, final disposition of the body, and memorialization. The Funeral Arranger is responsible for providing exemplary customer service and ensuring that all client needs are met in a compassionate and professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Arranges, conducts, and directs bereavement rites, including funeral and memorial ceremonies in a professional manner.
  • Confirms authorization to proceed with service arrangements.
  • Informs client families of special recognition/services available for veterans and ensures delivery of selected services.
  • Coordinates funeral services, including parking, ushering, and assisting at chapel, church, and cemetery services.
  • Delivers flowers, caskets, urns, photos, and personal keepsakes for client families.
  • Sets up and removes chairs as needed during services.
  • Provides aftercare in the absence of Family Service Counselor, including delivery of documentation and information on insurance and benefits.
  • Shares potential pre-need referrals with Family Service Counselors.
  • Ensures adherence to all applicable licensing authorities and regulations.
  • Prepares and accurately completes documents and online entries related to services and cremations.
  • Assists with general office duties, including answering phones and preparing reports.
  • Maintains vehicles, facility, and property as needed.
  • Receives caskets and funeral home supplies and places them into inventory.
  • Ensures refreshments are available where allowed by law.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience as a Funeral Assistant.
  • Current state/province issued driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Basic knowledge of religious and fraternal organizations customs.
  • Knowledge of computers and software including MS Office Suite.
  • High level of compassion and integrity.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities.
  • Detail-oriented.
