About the position
The Furnace Operator at Deer Creek is responsible for safely operating vacuum and air casting processes to meet plant quality and productivity goals. This role involves continuous improvement of operational costs while adhering to process control procedures and standard operating procedures to ensure high-quality workmanship. The operator will also be involved in cross-training employees and maintaining flexibility to meet customer demands.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate vacuum and air casting processes to achieve quality and productivity goals.
- Train, certify, and work in various casting or metal prep functions as needed.
- Prepare schedules, equipment, metal, and molds prior to furnace operation.
- Create and follow written furnace plans and review casting schedules with supervisors.
- Pour high-quality castings using all available methods and maintain required win scores.
- Inspect and clean shells in preparation for casting and verify shell identification and metal assignments.
- Operate induction melting, hydraulic systems, and other equipment efficiently during melting and casting.
- Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting on furnaces and support equipment to minimize downtime.
- Document observations and maintain accurate logs and production reports.
Requirements
- Experience in operating induction melting furnaces and vacuum casting processes.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including offshifts and weekends as required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
- Experience with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
Nice-to-haves
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or casting environment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in a manufacturing setting.
