About the position
The Furnace Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of sintering furnaces in a manufacturing environment. This role involves loading and unloading materials, ensuring proper furnace operation, and conducting quality control checks. The position requires adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures to maintain efficiency and product quality.
Responsibilities
- Load/unload, start/stop and operate sintering furnaces.
- Remove sintered heats from the furnaces, break down loads and deliver product to their designated departments.
- Follow established procedures for running and checking furnaces to ensure all systems are operating correctly.
- Remove Quality Control lab tests and place in proper envelopes.
- Remove box tests and deliver to the appropriate focus factory.
- Pull samples and record inspection results.
- Maintain heat run sheets and file reports in file cabinets.
- Scan in correct information using the MII platform.
- Perform routine furnace maintenance (CLI checklist).
- Assist with sinter set up, sandblast, destage, slurry, plate coating and other related duties as needed.
Requirements
- Must have High School diploma or GED.
