About the position

The position involves assembling quality upholstered furniture in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment. Employees work independently or as part of a team, utilizing various tools and techniques to ensure high standards of craftsmanship. The role requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods, while also adhering to safety protocols in a climate-controlled workspace.

Responsibilities

• Work in a team atmosphere
• Perform any position within the cell as needed
• Proper use of Kan Ban containers
• Upholster furniture by knocking down sharp corners of the frame
• Use staple gun to staple materials
• Use hammer to insert tack strip, panels, etc.
• Use staple puller to retract improper staples
• Use additional air tools to assemble components as necessary (drill, hog ring gun, hot glue gun, etc.)
• Assemble furniture components by upholstery notes within specifications
• Use frame gun to staple materials
• Apply proper glue and/or wax per specification
• Use glue scraper for proper clean up
• Validate unit cover to ticket in each batch
• Coordinate work flow in cell
• Insert stuffing materials into cover components
• Use machine to seal and quilt
• Assemble components into completed unit
• Oil mechanism as required by specification
• Scan ticket to show unit complete
• Use banding and up ender equipment for packaging
• Apply ticket to finished package in proper location
• Move unit to alternate location as needed

Requirements

• Equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the above duties
• Basic reading and writing skills
• Completion of in-house training curriculum
• Basic computer skills
• Have color vision for cushion processing position
• Achieve performance standards
