FUSE Executive Fellow | Durham, NC - Water Management Energy Efficiency

About the position

The FUSE Executive Fellow will work with the Durham, NC Water Management Department to create and implement a recommendation and implementation plan aimed at reducing energy use in water treatment and wastewater facilities. This role focuses on optimizing technology to enhance sustainability and affordability for residents, addressing economic disparities in the community.

Responsibilities

• Organize a 12-month work plan focusing on energy consumption reduction at water and wastewater facilities.
• Explore and implement alternative energy sources to minimize waste and lower carbon footprint.
• Develop methods for measuring energy consumption, potentially using detailed usage dashboards.
• Conduct a listening tour to gather insights from facility superintendents and stakeholders.
• Perform two SWOT analyses to identify alternative energy sources and improve operational efficiency.
• Produce a process optimization recommendation and implementation plan for the city.
• Create predictive models for maintaining existing equipment and conduct market research for upgrades.

Requirements

• 11+ years of professional experience in a relevant field.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable plans.
• Experience in developing and implementing strategic and operational project management plans.
• Ability to generate innovative, data-driven solutions to complex challenges.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong active listening abilities.
• Proven ability to foster collaboration across diverse stakeholders.
