In this role, you will engage in a combination of proof-of-concept, design architecture, and product development activities to support next-generation innovative FCE hardware and solutions. You will work in a dynamic team environment that encourages cross-functional, cross-business, and cross-cultural collaboration. The position requires strong engineering fundamentals across various technologies and the ability to quickly learn and dive deep into new technologies. Building strong relationships with colleagues and key partners worldwide is critical to your success. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for innovative technologies and demonstrate strong technical leadership. This position is based in Fort Collins, Colorado, USA, with a requirement to work in the office five days a week, while also allowing flexibility to work from home as appropriate. The team operates across the USA and Taiwan, and travel is expected, averaging 1-2 trips per quarter, both international and domestic. You will routinely exercise independent judgment to achieve program and project objectives with minimal supervision, leading a project team of electrical hardware engineers and development partners to create reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions for complex products. Your role will involve collaborating with management and development partners to communicate design status, project progress, and issue resolution, while also providing guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.

Responsibilities

  • Use a combination of proof-of-concept, design architecture, and product development activities to support next-generation innovative FCE hardware and solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional, cross-business, and cross-cultural teams to deliver on project goals.
  • Build strong relationships with worldwide colleagues and key partners inside and outside the company.
  • Lead and represent a project team of electrical hardware engineers and internal and outsourced development partners.
  • Design engineering solutions for electrical and electronic parts, subsystems, and algorithms based on established engineering principles.
  • Develop and implement parameters and test plans for new and existing designs, including validation of all design elements.
  • Manage tasks and issues with high technical and logistic complexity.
  • Review and evaluate designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards.
  • Work cross-functionally with key partners and product leadership to deliver product definitions meeting feature, quality, and user experience goals.

Requirements

  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or commensurate work experience.
  • Typically has 4-7 years of work experience in electrical design and tools, software packages, architecture of electronic hardware, or a related field, or an advanced degree with 3-5 years of work experience.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in schematic capture and layout for multi-layer circuit board design.
  • Experience in high-speed signal integrity design, modeling, standards, and validation.
  • Familiarity with design for test, quality, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Small-scale rapid design and prototyping for tools and proofs-of-concepts.
  • Embedded control design experience.
  • Scripting, firmware, and software design skills.
  • Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) expertise.
  • Expertise in industry standard protocols (USB, Display Port, PCIe, I2C, etc.).
  • Fluency in at least one of the major EE CAD tools (Cadence, Mentor Graphics, Altium, etc.).
  • Experience with video conferencing methods, hardware, and software.
