About the position

The Manager and Senior Manager positions within the Corporate Function Control Management team at American Express National Bank (AENB) focus on operational risk management. These roles are designed to lead teams that establish governance structures, assess operational risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. The positions offer opportunities for professional growth and are integral to maintaining the integrity and resilience of AENB's operations.

Responsibilities

  • Establish the Operational Risk and Controls strategy for AENB.
  • Set up a foundational governance structure to manage operational risks.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks within business unit processes.
  • Ensure timely identification, response, and resolution of risk events and issues.
  • Engage in continual improvement of business processes to mitigate operational risks.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in operational risk management for Manager role; 4+ years for Senior Manager role.
  • Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in process governance aligned with policies and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or related field; advanced degrees or certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience in translating operational risk strategy into execution guidelines.
  • Experience in tracking and identifying issues with Key Risk Indicator (KRI) limits.
  • Experience in overseeing the implementation of operational risk governance frameworks.
  • Experience in the financial services industry.
