The Special Education Teacher at Dr. Ronald E. McNair Elementary School plays a crucial role in providing direct instruction and instructional support to students with disabilities. Under the guidance of the school principal and special education supervisor, the teacher collaborates closely with general education teachers to ensure that students with disabilities receive the necessary support to succeed academically and socially. This position involves monitoring and evaluating the educational outcomes for these students, ensuring that their unique needs are met through tailored instructional strategies. A significant aspect of the role includes assisting in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEP), which are essential for outlining specific educational goals and accommodations for each student. The teacher is expected to have a thorough understanding of the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) curriculum relevant to the grade and content area they are assigned to.
