About the position

Stardock is seeking a talented Game Developer to join our team in Plymouth, Michigan. This full-time position is ideal for an avid gamer who is passionate about creating engaging gameplay systems in cutting-edge games. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining gameplay systems using modern C++ and Unreal Engine 5. This role requires a strong understanding of game development principles and a commitment to delivering high-quality gaming experiences. In this position, you will write technical documents that describe the implementation of gameplay systems, ensuring that all aspects of the development process are well-documented and easily understood by team members. You will also create data-driven systems that facilitate quick gameplay iteration, allowing for rapid testing and refinement of game mechanics. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with production and QA teams to address any bugs and ensure a smooth development process. The ideal candidate will have a passion for games and game design, with a self-motivated attitude and a knack for problem-solving. You should have a strong background in game development, with at least 5 years of professional experience, including 3 years specifically in Unreal Engine. A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field is required. Experience with version control software such as Perforce or SVN is also essential. If you have multiple shipped titles or mods under your belt, that will be a significant advantage in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain gameplay systems in modern C++ and Unreal Engine 5.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in game development.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in Unreal Engine.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or relevant field.
  • Passion for games and game design.
  • Self-motivated and loves solving problems.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following: UI/UX, AI, physics, data management, graphics, gameplay, audio, parallel and distributed systems, HLSL/GLSL shaders, pipelines, terrain.
  • Able to learn new technology quickly and execute on a schedule in a fast-paced cross-discipline team environment.
  • Multiple shipped titles or mods.
  • Experienced with version control software (e.g. Perforce, SVN, etc.).
