About the position
The Gaming Commission Internal Auditor is responsible for conducting operational, financial, and regulatory audits to ensure compliance with established policies and regulations. This role involves evaluating internal controls, documenting audit findings, and presenting results to management, thereby contributing to the overall integrity and efficiency of gaming operations at Sycuan Casino.
Responsibilities
- Conduct operational, financial, and regulatory audits to ensure internal controls are observed and financial reports are reliable.
- Carry out audit programs and plans focusing on reviewing and evaluating information received.
- Measure compliance with established policies, procedures, and Federal, Tribal, and State regulations and ordinances.
- Document audit findings and make recommendations to strengthen gaming operations.
- Prepare audit reports that include objective audit findings and conclusions.
- Conduct opening and closing meetings with audited departments to present audit results.
- Assist Gaming Commission Management by performing special projects and other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field or related experience.
- Internal auditing experience in a gaming and/or hospitality environment (desirable).
- Certified Internal Auditor or Certified Professional Accountant designation (desirable).
- Working knowledge of gaming and/or hospitality industry.
- Ability to apply knowledge of accounting practices and regulations.
- Excellent data entry skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language.
- Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
- Excellent record-keeping and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and assignments.
Nice-to-haves
- Working knowledge of NIGC MICS (National Indian Gaming Commission Minimum Internal Control Standards).
