About the position

The Gaming Inspector maintains a presence during all hours (but at various times) under limited supervision at the Gaming Operation(s) to monitor for compliance with all requirements of the Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS), Siletz Tribal Ordinances, STGC Regulations and the facilities internal control standards. This position is responsible for the comprehensive regulation component in the system of checks and balances needed to ensure compliance and integrity of the games and to protect the interests of the Tribe.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, monitor, and maintain a presence at the Gaming Operation(s) at random during all hours, including immediate access to all areas of the Gaming Operation(s), to ensure compliance with all requirements of the Tribal-State Compact, Tribal Gaming Ordinance, Tribal-State MICS, TICS and Regulations.
  • Monitor casino from the surveillance room or gaming floor to observe operations and ensure compliance with controls and standards. Maintain incidence log of all activities.
  • Conduct compliance checks, monitor electronic gaming devices (EGD) and EPROM chips compliance.
  • Investigate and prepare incident reports for the Compliance Manager that identifies non-compliance with established regulations, policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Assist in the review of documents relating to the Gaming Operation's compliance with federal laws and rules, and Gaming Regulations regarding currency transaction reporting.
  • Investigate and report to the Compliance Manager any misconduct or alleged criminal gaming activity.
  • Investigate cash variances and report findings to Compliance Manager.
  • Investigate customer disputes related to gaming that involve more than $500 and that are not resolved by management of the Gaming Operation(s).
  • Conduct monthly compliance checks of VLT’s, sensitive gaming inventories, Soft Count, Security and Surveillance logs, movement of cash within, into and outside the Gaming Operation(s), Security and Surveillance procedures, Game controls, and integrity of VLT Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EPROM) Inventory.
  • Secure and test EPROMs that control payouts and internal functions of all electronic gaming devices.
  • Maintain a perpetual inventory of all electronic gaming devices and EPROMs.
  • Observe the Slot/Video Lottery Terminal (VLT) or Table Games drop on a monthly basis.
  • Verify primary jackpots of the wide area progressive VLT machines/gaming devices including working jointly with manufacturers technician to verify wide area jackpots.
  • Observe the shipping, receiving, installation, relocation, removal, storage of VLT machine/gaming device.
  • Be present whenever the STGC wire seal is broken and is responsible for resealing machines and/or gaming devices.
  • Daily review of Surveillance and Security reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Compliance Manager and/or Executive Director.

Requirements

  • Gaming Inspector I: High School Diploma or GED and six (6) months gaming experience.
  • Gaming Inspector II: Transition from Gaming Inspector I after one (1) year experience and satisfactory evaluations.
  • Gaming Inspector III: Associate degree in Casino Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, or other related field and two (2) years gaming operation experience -OR- an equivalent combination of education and/or specialized experience related directly to the position being filled.
  • Must become Law Enforcement (LEDS) certified within sixty (60) days of employment start date.
  • Must complete the required level for the CJIS Security Awareness training within six (6) months of employment start date.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, access to use a personal vehicle for work related travel and personal vehicle insurance.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including on call, different shifts, holidays, and weekends for the needs of the Gaming Operation(s).
  • Must not have a criminal history record containing any felony conviction or any misdemeanor conviction of fraud, ID theft, or computer crimes.

  • Experience in working with Microsoft Office with an emphasis using Word, Excel, Access, and the ability to learn how to use PowerPoint, Teams, One Note, and digital signature software.
  • Knowledge of IGRA (Indian Gaming Regulatory Act), Charter of the Siletz Tribal Gaming Enterprise, National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS), Siletz Tribal Gaming Commission Regulations, Tribal-State Compact, and Gaming Operation Policies and Procedures.
