About the position

The Gaming Surveillance Observer is responsible for monitoring compliance with the Navajo Nation Gaming Ordinance and Gaming Policies and Procedures. This role involves using closed circuit television (CCTV) and floor observations to protect the integrity of the casino. The observer will operate surveillance equipment, report suspicious activities, conduct preliminary investigations, and prepare detailed reports. The position requires availability for various shifts and the ability to travel on short notice.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor compliance with the Navajo Nation Gaming Ordinance and Gaming Policies and Procedures.
  • Protect and maintain the integrity of the casino using CCTV and floor observations.
  • Operate all surveillance equipment, including NVRs, monitors, and cameras.
  • Monitor both interior and exterior areas of the facility.
  • Report suspicious activities or mishandling of funds to the Senior Gaming Surveillance Observer or Gaming Surveillance Manager.
  • Conduct preliminary investigations of suspicious activity to determine if a violation or crime has occurred.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate reports of incidents of suspected illegal activities.
  • Label, maintain, and categorize all surveillance media in accordance with State/Tribal gaming compacts.
  • Report any equipment in need of repair and safety hazards.
  • Complete timesheets and overtime forms as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of work experience in the gaming industry, security, investigative work, video surveillance systems, or information technology.
  • Ability to obtain a gaming license/certification from the State of Arizona and New Mexico and the Navajo Nation Gaming Regulatory office.
  • Valid state driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in both the Navajo and English languages.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Navajo Nation laws related to gaming surveillance activities.
  • Experience with surveillance software and equipment troubleshooting.
