About the position

The Gap Year/Medical Assistant position at Essential Dermatology involves supporting the medical team in a dermatology practice by performing various clinical, front-desk, and back-office duties. This role is open to new graduates and requires full-time commitment, with a focus on providing high-quality patient care in a compassionate environment.

Responsibilities

• Support MDs/PA in patient care, directly and indirectly
• Room patients; medication reconciliation, allergy review and identify patient's chief concern
• Anticipate patient and physician needs for efficient visit
• Cross-cover front desk receptionist
• Triage patient phone calls and messages
• Vendor interactions (ordering supplies, shipments, tracking)
• Appointment scheduling
• Product sales (cosmeceuticals)
• Any necessary task to enhance patient care experience and/or support the physician and practice

Requirements

• High-School graduate / equivalent required
• Prior medical office experience (1 year) preferred
• Competency with computers and Microsoft Word, Excel
• Professional demeanor and detail-oriented
• High energy, positive & outgoing personality
• Self-starter with good anticipatory skills
• Excellent inter-personal & communication skills
• Multilingual skills (Portuguese, Spanish) helpful

Nice-to-haves

• Prior Dermatology (or other medical) Practice experience preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
