We have an exciting new opening for a 2025 Electrical Hardware Engineer Intern located in Torrance, CA. The Electrical Hardware Engineer intern will focus on power electronics and will work on research, design, prototyping, testing, and characterization of cutting-edge hardware. The work will involve designing power electronics converters with GaN and SiC devices, bringing up, troubleshooting, and testing the hardware, as well as test data analysis, post-processing, characterization, visualization, and documentation. This internship offers a unique opportunity to integrate into a high technology, collaborative, and passionate team, discovering high-paced automotive product development together with exciting and innovative technologies. Interns will have close contact with major OEMs and suppliers, providing valuable career opportunities in a dynamic and international work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Designing power electronics converters with GaN and SiC devices.
  • Bringing up, troubleshooting, and testing the hardware.
  • Conducting test data analysis, post-processing, characterization, visualization, and documentation.

Requirements

  • Master or PhD student in Electrical Engineering.
  • Hands-on hardware design experience.
  • Solid understanding of power electronics fundamentals.
  • Experience with schematic, layout, PCB design.
  • Experience with scripting in Python or MATLAB.
  • Programming experience in C for embedded applications is a bonus.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in engineering or other related field.
  • Ability to convey subtle or complex messages clearly, as appropriate for the topic and audience.
  • Self-motivated individuals who can work with little supervision and consistently take the initiative to get things done.
  • Demonstrated experience with design tools appropriate for the field (3D CAD tools, Excel).
  • Demonstrated academic excellence (3.0 GPA and higher).
  • Demonstrated extra-curricular/leadership experience.
