About the position

The Gas Control Specialist at Ameren is responsible for monitoring the natural gas system using SCADA, identifying alarms and abnormal operating conditions, and initiating actions to resolve and prevent system disturbances. This role requires working twelve-hour rotating shifts in an office environment and necessitates residing within a one-hour commuting distance from the reporting location. The position plays a crucial role in ensuring the economic, efficient, and reliable operation of the gas system.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with implementing the daily operating plan to support the economic, efficient, and reliable operation of the Ameren gas system.
  • Assist with preparing and completing the daily load forecasting for supply purchases for the gas system.
  • Remotely control system operations (valves, compressors, and other field components).
  • Comply with the Operator Qualification requirements.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship with field personnel, division engineers, pipeline contacts, and other departments that interact with Gas Control.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and assist in operation of gas-fired generating plants.
  • Complete various manual and automated reports with the highest attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Comply with all government regulations for Control Room and Alarm Management.
  • Coordinate and monitor various remotely monitored distribution pressure stations for field operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Two or more years of relevant experience in natural gas operations or related industry required.
  • Experience in gas control preferred.
  • Consideration will be given to candidates who have six years of relevant experience in lieu of the degree requirement.
  • An Associate's degree or a two-year certificate in a technical field is strongly preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite with demonstrated ability in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
  • Ability to interpret governmental compliance regulations.
