About the position

The Gas Controller I position at BHE GT&S involves managing daily natural gas operations to ensure the pipeline system meets physical requirements. The role requires monitoring and controlling gas facilities using SCADA systems, analyzing pipeline data, and implementing operational changes to maintain efficiency and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management of daily natural gas operations to meet pipeline system requirements.
  • Utilize the SCADA system to monitor and control gas facilities, ensuring pipeline pressures stay within Maximum Allowable Operating Pressures (MAOP).
  • Analyze transmission pipeline system and recommend operational changes based on changing requirements.
  • Respond to SCADA alarms and analyze gas control data.
  • Adjust gas volumes and pressures to meet market requirements considering forecasts and supply portfolios.
  • Assist in implementing the daily operating plan for efficient and reliable gas system operations.
  • Develop professional relationships with field personnel and other departments interacting with Gas Control.
  • Comply with government regulations for Control Room and Alarm Management.

Requirements

  • 0 plus years of combined natural gas, analytical, utility, process operation/control, or related experience.
  • Basic knowledge of company operations, pipeline network, and facilities is preferred.
  • Ability to learn and retain knowledge of natural gas safety and emergency plans/procedures.
  • Ability to learn and retain knowledge of Control Room Management regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, detect errors, and recommend changes.
  • Basic understanding of computerized equipment and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to perform basic math operations and document data accurately.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with others.
  • Ability to manage work and perform varied tasks simultaneously under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology is preferred.
