About the position

As a Natural Gas Scheduler at Southwestern Energy, you will play a crucial role within the Marketing and Transportation team. This position requires a solid understanding of the fundamentals of moving gas on the interstate pipeline system. Your primary responsibilities will include accurate and timely daily scheduling and balancing on various natural gas pipelines where Southwestern Energy operates. You will report directly to the Scheduling Manager and work from the company's headquarters in Spring, Texas. In this role, you must thoroughly understand transportation contracts and dispatch appropriately based on contract entitlements, receipt and delivery points, and capacity, while avoiding any overrun or unforeseen incremental transportation charges. You will be responsible for tracking and interpreting pipeline curtailments and operational issues, utilizing pipeline electronic bulletin boards (EBBs) or communicating directly with pipeline transportation representatives. It is essential to relay any issues or concerns to the Trading group promptly, advising on potential impacts to deliverability and month-to-date imbalances where applicable. Additionally, you will be involved in capacity release postings and will advise the trading team of potential opportunities that align with the supply and market portfolio. Daily balancing and scheduling of your areas of responsibility in the gas management system will be a key part of your duties. You will also prepare accurate and timely accounting month-end close for your areas of responsibility and participate in the on-call rotation, providing backup coverage for all scheduling areas as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Two or more years of experience in the oil and gas industry, specifically in pipeline nominations and balancing.
  • Experience using electronic bulletin boards.
  • Working knowledge of gas management systems.
  • Strong computer skills, including advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular full-time basis without restrictions.
