About the position

The Gas Station Attendant serves as the first point of contact for customers, responsible for providing excellent customer service, cashiering, and maintaining the store's cleanliness and organization. This position requires a friendly and professional demeanor while interacting with customers and team members, particularly during night shifts and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and interacts with customers as they enter the location.
  • Observes the flow of automobiles being filled with gasoline.
  • Assists customers with purchase inquiries and decisions, suggesting options suitable for their needs.
  • Accepts payments in cash and credit or debit cards for purchases.
  • Ensures accurate transactions by balancing the cash register at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Assists customers in locating products, resolving complaints, or providing information.
  • Bag, box, and/or wrap purchased items.
  • Helps maintain inventory placement throughout the store, including stocking or restocking workstations and sales floor.
  • Acts with integrity and promotes the culture and values of the company.
  • Promotes teamwork and readiness to assist with team needs throughout the shift.
  • Verifies customers purchasing lottery tickets, alcohol, and tobacco are of legal age.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
  • Keeps a clean and polished appearance, wearing the designated uniform and name tag.
  • Sweeps, mops, dusts, removes trash inside and outside, and cleans and disinfects restrooms.
  • Maintains sanitation of dispensers, islands, and other station equipment.
  • Ensures the quality and quantity of food items packed or served.
  • Transfers supplies between storage areas and the convenience store as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate available equipment, such as cash registers, calculators, or scanners.
  • Basic mathematical skills for making change.
  • Willingness to complete all convenience store tasks.
  • Ability to interact productively with co-workers and function well in a team environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training.
  • Currently have or be able to obtain a Wisconsin bartenders license.
