About the position

The Territory Sales Manager (TSM) for Gas Stations in Northern New Jersey is responsible for maximizing profitability and brand value across approximately 20-35 sites. This role involves direct interaction with franchisees, ensuring compliance with company standards, and coordinating sales activities, marketing, and merchandising efforts. The TSM will conduct fieldwork, manage relationships with various departments, and oversee financial and operational aspects of the assigned territory.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a home office and conduct field work a minimum of four days per week.
  • Coordinate all sales activities, marketing, and merchandising of company products within the designated territory.
  • Conduct sales call meetings with each account two times every 30 days and prepare reports.
  • Enforce retailing standards and implement performance improvement plans.
  • Accomplish assigned performance objectives and comply with sales force effectiveness guidelines.
  • Conduct bi-annual night rides to enforce hours of operation and evaluate third shift operations.
  • Counsel accounts on business plan implementation and financial statements.
  • Resolve inquiries from assigned accounts and ensure uniform compliance at all sites.
  • Solicit motor oil orders and manage bulk storage tanks.
  • Counsel dealers on convenience store operations and promotional opportunities.
  • Facilitate dealer changes including recruiting and training candidates.
  • Identify and implement co-brand opportunities and solicit new reseller business.
  • Prepare territory review analysis and presentations.
  • Create and maintain station and subject files, managing reports on station operations.
  • Prepare and send weekly itineraries and monthly business expense reports to supervisors.
  • Ensure accuracy and facilitate execution of commercial contracts and related agreements.
  • Monitor bounced drafts and administer credit terms and payment terms.
  • Propose capital expenditures and oversee capital improvement projects.
  • Implement measures to prevent product releases and resolve environmental issues.
  • Assist with real estate development projects and provide recommendations for lease renewals.
  • Conduct competitive retail price surveys and maintain market survey reports.
  • Resolve dealer and customer complaints and monitor online reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred)
  • 3 years of gas station management experience (required)
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel 75% of the time (preferred)
