The Gastroenterology Technician 1 position at Baylor Scott & White Health involves assisting with technical procedures and patient care services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities
- Operates and maintains equipment safely and under established policies and procedures.
- Assists physician and clinical staff in carrying out procedures requiring aseptic techniques.
- Safely transports equipment to different areas of the facility as needed.
- Prepares patients for exams or procedures and assists the physician during these processes.
- Observes patients, recognizes changes in condition, and seeks appropriate help promptly.
- Cleans the procedure room before and after procedures and manages soiled equipment appropriately.
- Maintains an adequate inventory of equipment and supplies for the assigned area.
- Places general and special supply orders from purchasing in a timely manner.
- Sets up the procedure room ensuring all needed equipment and supplies are available and in good working order.
- Restocks all supplies in assigned rooms at the end of the shift.
- Performs quality checks on equipment and ensures necessary repairs are made, cleaning and disinfecting specialty equipment as per established policies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
- Less than 1 year of experience in a related field.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language.
- Ability to see and hear with or without correction.
